What is Animal Assisted Therapy and what are the benefits?

Picture

Animal Assisted Therapy is a unique therapy that involves the use of animals and their specific characteristics in the treatment and recovery process of an individual or group of persons.
Animal-assisted therapy is designed to facilitate healing of the physical, social, emotional or cognitive functioning of the patient, as well as provide education and motivation to complete the process. The difference between a visiting animal and Animal Assisted Therapy is that AAT is goal centered as opposed to a friendly visit, although if desired we do those too!
